Earth Shaking!!

Layers:

1 .Lithosphere
Activities: 3mini posters, 3Brainpop videos and 2Music videos
Topics: Faults, Volcanoes, Plate Boundaries, Earthquakes,Mountains,Tsunami, plate tectonic

Lithosphere is the solid part of the earth.  There are three types of faults normal fault (rock moves down) Reverse fault (rock moves upward) and Strike Slip fault (two rocks slide past one in opposite directions). These also causes earthquakes and tsunamis to occur. Volcano are the opening in the earth that erupts gases, ash and lava. There are three types of volcanoes Shield, Cinder Cone and Composite. Volcanoes are  caused by movement along boundaries and they occur at both divergent and convergent plate boundaries. Inside of the volcano are called the magma which are a melted rock under the surface and lava are outside of the volcano and that are a melted rock above the surface. Plate boundairs are border between two plates. There are three types of boundaries divergent boundary (plates moving apart), convergent boundary (plates come together) and transform fault boundary.  Earthquake (when the ground shake )and tsunami is a harbor wave  caused by movement of faults and they brings extensive of damage in the environment.

Asthenosphere
Activites: 2Foldables & Mini-Quiz and Demonstration Lab
Topics:Continental Drift and The Earth's interior

Asthenosphere is the part of the mantle with convection currents. Alfred Wegener thought of the theory that all continent were once single supercontinent called  Pangaea. But over time the supercontinent slowly broke apart into what we have today. The evidence is puzzle when you put all the continents together. Fossils, similar fossils were found on coastlines of different continents. And Rocktype mountains that appear on one coastline also appear on another continents across the ocean. Earth's interior have 4 types of  layers, Crust (crust is the outside layer where we live), Mantle (liquid layer magma- melted rock), Outer core(liquid layer) and Inner core (soild layer) The outer core and Inner core are both made of iron and nickle.  There are 2 crust Oceanic( crust below the ocean) and Continental( crust that are made of land). Demonstration Lab (Convection Currents) was  a experiment about the  convection current to see how the plates moves  when we  put food coloring  in the hot water to respresent the outer core and see what wiil be the results.

Mantle
Activites: Narrative Video
Topics: Plate Tectonic

Mantle is liquid layer magma melted rock. The theory of PlateTectonic is when earth's  crust  broken in pieces that moves on top of the liquid mantle asthenophere.  In the section of the project i worked with Adnan and we make narrative video i wrote the summary and he record it.

2. Critical Thinking Questions:

Do you agree with the theory of the plate tectonics? why or why not?
I do agree with the plate tectonics that all continents was once a single supercontinent called pangaea. The scientist Alfred Weneger proved that if we put all the continents together they look like puzzle. And also he found the similarities of the fossils coastline on different continents. But millions of years earth's crust broken into plates and it became a continental drift that's why we now have different continents around the world.

3. Reflection:

1.What did you enjoy most about this project and why?
I enjoyed creating different types of mini posters, foldables, and watching different kind of brainpop videos. And i also enjoyed that we have choice to do the project.

2. What was the most challenging for you during this project and why?
The most challenging for was that we don't have enough time to in school but the project was not that challenging for me.

3.What new skills did you learn from doing this project?
I learned how to narrative video on imovie with my partner.

4.Is there anything that you could have done to improve any of your work?Explain
Something I could have done to improve my work is to edit my video to make sure all the pictures in the video are in order. And have myself record the video instead of my partner.
