Earth Shaking!!
Layers:
1 .Lithosphere
Activities: 3mini posters, 3Brainpop videos and 2Music videos
Topics: Faults, Volcanoes, Plate Boundaries, Earthquakes,Mountains,Tsunami, plate tectonic
Lithosphere is the solid part of the earth. There are three types of faults normal fault (rock moves down) Reverse fault (rock moves upward) and Strike Slip fault (two rocks slide past one in opposite directions). These also causes earthquakes and tsunamis to occur. Volcano are the opening in the earth that erupts gases, ash and lava. There are three types of volcanoes Shield, Cinder Cone and Composite. Volcanoes are caused by movement along boundaries and they occur at both divergent and convergent plate boundaries. Inside of the volcano are called the magma which are a melted rock under the surface and lava are outside of the volcano and that are a melted rock above the surface. Plate boundairs are border between two plates. There are three types of boundaries divergent boundary (plates moving apart), convergent boundary (plates come together) and transform fault boundary. Earthquake (when the ground shake )and tsunami is a harbor wave caused by movement of faults and they brings extensive of damage in the environment.
Asthenosphere
Activites: 2Foldables & Mini-Quiz and Demonstration Lab
Topics:Continental Drift and The Earth's interior
Asthenosphere is the part of the mantle with convection currents. Alfred Wegener thought of the theory that all continent were once single supercontinent called Pangaea. But over time the supercontinent slowly broke apart into what we have today. The evidence is puzzle when you put all the continents together. Fossils, similar fossils were found on coastlines of different continents. And Rocktype mountains that appear on one coastline also appear on another continents across the ocean. Earth's interior have 4 types of layers, Crust (crust is the outside layer where we live), Mantle (liquid layer magma- melted rock), Outer core(liquid layer) and Inner core (soild layer) The outer core and Inner core are both made of iron and nickle. There are 2 crust Oceanic( crust below the ocean) and Continental( crust that are made of land). Demonstration Lab (Convection Currents) was a experiment about the convection current to see how the plates moves when we put food coloring in the hot water to respresent the outer core and see what wiil be the results.
Mantle
Activites: Narrative Video
Topics: Plate Tectonic
Mantle is liquid layer magma melted rock. The theory of PlateTectonic is when earth's crust broken in pieces that moves on top of the liquid mantle asthenophere. In the section of the project i worked with Adnan and we make narrative video i wrote the summary and he record it.
2. Critical Thinking Questions:
Do you agree with the theory of the plate tectonics? why or why not?
I do agree with the plate tectonics that all continents was once a single supercontinent called pangaea. The scientist Alfred Weneger proved that if we put all the continents together they look like puzzle. And also he found the similarities of the fossils coastline on different continents. But millions of years earth's crust broken into plates and it became a continental drift that's why we now have different continents around the world.
3. Reflection:
1.What did you enjoy most about this project and why?
I enjoyed creating different types of mini posters, foldables, and watching different kind of brainpop videos. And i also enjoyed that we have choice to do the project.
2. What was the most challenging for you during this project and why?
The most challenging for was that we don't have enough time to in school but the project was not that challenging for me.
3.What new skills did you learn from doing this project?
I learned how to narrative video on imovie with my partner.
4.Is there anything that you could have done to improve any of your work?Explain
Something I could have done to improve my work is to edit my video to make sure all the pictures in the video are in order. And have myself record the video instead of my partner.

Solstices and Equinoxes
Solstices and Equinoxes
Summer Solstice: The longest day of the year (axis always points toward the sun) and first day of the season summer. (June 21/22).
Winter Solstice: Th shortest day of the year (axis points away from the sun) and the first day of the season Winter. (December 21/22).
Autumnal/fall Equinox: Season when there are day and night are equal and first day of the season fall. (September 22/23).
Vernal/Spring Equinox: Season when there are day and night are equal and the first day of Spring. (March 21/22).
Equinox : Equal day (12hours) and equal night (12hours).
Revolution:The movement of the earth around the sun. This takes 365 days or 1 year.
Hemisphere: half of the earth.
Equator: A line that separated Northern and Southern Hemisphere.
Rotation: when Earth spins on its axis.
Axis: Imaginary line that goes through the middle of the earth.
Polaris: North star that earth's axis always pointed to.
Tilt: is on the side of the axis in 23.5 degrees.
There are two solstices and they are summer and winter. Summer Solstice is the first day of the season summer in June 21-22 in the Northern hemisphere and it's the longest day of the year during this time the axis always points toward the sun. Hemisphere is half of the Earth. The winter solstice are the shortest day of the year on December 21-22 also in the Northern hemisphere the axis points away from the sun and it's the first day of winter. Equinox are two times of the year when there are equal day 12 hours and equal night 12hours and there are two equinoxes vernal (spring) equinox is the first day of spring in March 21-22 when the sun crosses the equator moving northward in the southern hemisphere. And the other equinox is autumnal(fall) equinox is the first day of the season of fall on September 22-23. The earth rotate around the sun for 24 hours. Earth orbits around the sun this is called an Ellipse. Its take earth 365 or 1 year to revolving around the sun. We have seasons because of the Earth's tilt which is 23.5 degree it makes the seasons change and the revolution around the sun. The seasons occur as the earth orbits around the sun. The axis is a imaginary line that does through the middle of earth and the Polaris is the star that axis always point at. The is the line that separated the Northern and the Southern hemispheres.
Critical Thinking Question
How is Earth affected by movement(revolution)
Earth is affected by its movement and people moving around the sun, moon and stars. As the earth the moves around it create different movement to cause season, tides and day and night this takes earth 356 days or 1 year to revolve around the sun.

Questions:
1.what did you enjoy the most about this project and why?
I enjoyed the most narrating the story board and sharing my ideas with my group because it was fun working with the people in my group and i think that we both enjoyed working together.
2.what was most challenging for you during this project and why?
I think most challenging part for me during this project was when i find out i had to be the narrator because i didn't want to mess up during the filming and the pronunciations of "solstices"it was a litter bit hard but i liked and i have fun.
3.What new skills did you learn from doing this project?
Doing this project i learned a lot about solstices and equinoxes because i never new anything about solstice and equinox and i also learn that you can always try something new and do it well.
4.Is there anything that could have to improve any of your work?Explain.
I think that i could have organize the poster photos in order so that it was easy for the other people to understand more of the hard work we did.

Geologic time- Paleogene time
Summary
My Geologic time period of Paleogene that happened in 65-24 million years ago its described in three parts of Oligocene which starts with a minor extinction like pigs ,cat ,rat etc in 36 million years ago .Eocene mammals abound and Paleocene the first large mammals and seeming to primate this time a diverse of animals extinct.
Reflections
- What did you enjoy most about this project?
2.What was the most challenging part about this project?why?
The most challenging about this project was finding information because their was many different websites to look for information so it was hard to know which one was the right information.
The most challenging about this project was finding information because their was many different websites to look for information so it was hard to know which one was the right information.
3.What you change about this project? Why?
Something i would change about this project is that i would try to work alone because sometime working independently would help you to understand how much skill you have.also if you work alone u dont have to argue with other person.
4.What are three things that you learned from this project?
- I learn how to make video and add pictures.
- Paleogene period favored the birds during this period new species evolved.
- in the paleogene time there were many large flightless bird that are now extinct in addition increase in numbers of variety of species.

THE STARS
- What is a star?
A star is a huge glowing ball of hot gas that held together by gravity. In addition they create large amount of heat and light through nuclear fusion. Stars are made of in a giant clouds of dust and gas called the stellar nebula. Sometimes the part of the cloud gets smaller because gravity.
There are 4 types of stars example main sequence ,white dwarfs are small dense type of stars and dim. A super giants stars are among the most massive stars in our universe.
giants, and main sequence is the stage where a star spends most of its existence. The H-R diagram is graphical tool that astronomers used to organize stars according to their different luminosity, spectral class , colors ,temperature and evolutionary stage. The nuclear fusion is a reaction inside a star change two hydrogen gas molecules into a helium molecule this is how stars makes energy.

Planet of Earth
Earth
Distance from the sun is 149million kilometers
Mass: 5.974x1024 kilograms
Revolution :The revolution is called the year. The earth takes 365.25 day to revolve around the sun. It is during this year or revolution that brings earth it's seasons.
number of moon 1 terrestrial.
Planet description:
Earth the third planet from the sun. Earth helps to keep the temperature here just right for life.
Interesting facts:
71 percent of the earth is covered in water, which all living things rely on, in on way or another
Earth's called the blue planet because of all the water. Earth surface have all kinds of things on it.It is mostly made of mountain hills and deserts. Facts About Earth

Hurricane Irene Project
Critical thinking
1. What is a hurricane?
3.What does saturation (zone) mean?
the saturation zone is the area that is filled with water.
4.What is flooding and why it is dangerous?
A flooding is when the water flood over to unusually places like on the streets. And the cause of flooding are hurricane, heavy precipitation overflowing and snow melting.
1. What is a hurricane?
A hurricane is a storm that develops in tropical ocean which have strong winds and cause flooding which will damage many things like houses, trees and a lot of pollutions that does through the ocean and less economics by damaging houses and cars on the streets and effects many people and the environments.
2.what is a high tide and what causes it?
Tides are the daily rise and fall of the ocean water level.
A high tide is when the water rise up and the cause of tides are changing of the moon, earth, and the water level.
Two main types of tide are called the spring tide and neap tides.Tides are the daily rise and fall of the ocean water level.
